COLOMBO : The District Court of Colombo on Tuesday, Jan. 6 issued an enjoining order preventing Shiraz Yoonis from making defamatory statements against the chairman of the Hajj committee Riyaz Mihular. Previously Shiraz Yoonis had published a video where he made several defamatory statements against the Chairman of the Hajj committee, reputed charted Accountant Mihular. thereafter Mihular instituted action before the District Court of Colombo demanding the payment of Rs.500,000,000 as damages and sort the removal of the videos from from the YouTube platform and orders preventing Shiraz Yoonis from repeating the defamatory statements. The application for enjoining orders was supported by Mr Hejaaz Hizbullah with Mr Chalana Perera instructed by Ms Tharmaja Tharmaraja. The court also issued summons on Yoonis and has ordered him to show cause as to why the other relief prayed for by the plaintiff should not be granted against him. The case is now fixed for January 20 2026.
