COLOMBO ; An unprecedented crowd gathered at the Dewatagaha masjid and Shrine Thursday Sept.28 to celebrate Meelad Nabi.
It was a spiritual reawakening , creating a mesmerizing spectacle that seemed to transcend the boundaries of time and space in thousands . A sea of devoted individuals from all walks of life had converged, their collective energy palpable in the air.
The people of Traditional values who believe in the sufi lifestyle of simplicity filled the masjid and spilled over to the adjoining roads to celebrate Prophet MUHAMMAD SAL birth.
The atmosphere was charged with a profound sense of unity and purpose, as people from diverse backgrounds came together to seek solace, enlightenment, and spiritual connection. The sheer magnitude of this gathering left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those in attendance, a testament to the enduring power of faith and the human spirit.
IT WAS A SIMILAR SENTIMENT with a gathering at the Meera Makam Shrine in Kandy, while Many masjids had gatherings to celebrate todaysThursday’s Meelad. Moulid recitals and Kandiri ( food festivals) for the people of the area was seen across the island at masjids.
It was an expression of love and compassion which embrace and invites people of all faiths.
