CCOLOMBO : While walking along Visakha Road, Bambalapitiya around 8:00 p.m. yesterday, next to the boundary wall of residence No. 14 stands a non-functional teller machine — its electricity disconnected and its presence serving no purpose other than being an eyesore.
In an era where the government is encouraging clean, smart cities and efficient public services, should such neglected infrastructure be allowed to linger in prominent locations?
The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) should act without delay to remove this abandoned ATM, which not only detracts from the cleanliness of the surroundings but also symbolises neglect in urban maintenance. Visakha Road deserves better. Over to Mayoress Ms. V C Balthazaar to kinldy oblige to this request.
