NEGOMBO : A man, who was pronounced dead by a doctor, has regained consciousness since he was suffering from Hypoglycemia,low blood sugar, the patient’s wife told Colombo Times.
The 45-year-old from Dulganpitiya, who was admitted to the hospital on Friday (April 09), was pronounced dead by a doctor assigned to the Outpatient Department (OPD).
Accordingly, when the man was to be transferred to the hospital’s morgue, the wife found that his lips were moving when she went near the body.
The patient regained consciousness after his family members complained to the doctors that the patient was still alive.
The man was then moved to a ward on the 4th floor of the hospital for further treatment.
Preliminary medical tests have revealed that the patient had fallen into a coma due to low blood sugar.
Having undergone a series of treatment, the patient is perfectly in good health, said the house officer at the hospital,
According to reports, the director of Negombo District General Hospital has launched an investigation into the incident.(AD)
