COLOMBO -Darussalam College, Colombo, Maligawatte, held its Achievers’ Felicitation Ceremony today at the college auditorium, honoring the remarkable accomplishments of its students. The event recognized those who excelled in the GCE Ordinary Level examinations, a student who secured admission to a university, and two students who proudly gained the opportunity to represent Sri Lanka at the prestigious Under-19 and Under-17 Subroto Cup International Tournament in New Delhi, India.
The ceremony began with a colorful parade, where the college band led the achievers in procession, creating a celebratory atmosphere filled with pride and inspiration.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Ahamed Nibras extended his heartfelt congratulations to the honorees. He noted that while academic results, awards, and sporting victories are commendable, they represent only one dimension of success. “True achievement,” he emphasized, “lies in building character and discipline.”
Adding further weight to the occasion, Mr. B.M. Murshideen, Vice President of the Darussalam College Past Pupils’ Association, highlighted how Maligawatte, once dismissed as a backward community, is steadily changing in perception thanks to the progress and growing reputation of Darussalam College.
As a mark of encouragement and recognition, the top two students were each awarded laptops, generously sponsored by Edinborough Products (Pvt) Ltd.
