COLOMBO – The Colombo Grand Mosque has announced that a new moon for the month of Dul Hajj was sighted in Puttalam on Friday June 7th evening.
The Muslims in Sri Lanka will celebrate the festival of Eid ul Azha (Hajj Festival) on Monday June 17th 2024.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by President of the All Ceylon Jammiyyathul Ulema (the Supreme Council of Muslim Theologians of Sri Lanka) Ash Sheik M. I. M. Rizvi Mufthi, Colombo Grand Mosque President Thahir Razeen and Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Religious Development Officer Ash Sheik M.M.M. Mufthi were present at this conference.
The Thakbeer will commence on the 16th of June from Fajr Prayers until the 20th of June till Asar prayers.
