GAMPAHA: A 65-year-old woman has reportedly died at the Gampaha Hospital after having contracted COVID-19.
Initially admitted for respiratory issues, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she succumbed to her condition, according to a spokesman of the hospital.
The result of a PCR test conducted prior to her transfer, however, revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19.
It was subsequently identified that a relative of the deceased, who had been admitted with her to the Gampaha Hospital, had also contracted the COVID-19 virus.
