COLOMBO : Kuliyapitiya police area will be placed under isolation from midnight today (April 22), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva announced.
The decision was taken to control the spread of COVID-19 in the area, he explained.
The Army Chief noted that the isolation order on Kuliyapitiya police area will be in place until further notice.
On Wednesday, Thiththawelgala Grama Niladhari Division was declared an isolated area under the government preventive programme against Covid virus.
This was the first lockdown reported due to Covid virus after a long spell. The health authorities warned people to be careful during the long weekend on account of the Sinhala/Tamil New Year.
This Grama Niladhari Division is located in Kumbukgete police division of Ganewatta Divisional Secretariat in Kurunegala District.
