COLOMBO – In spite of Sundays’s heavy rain on Sept.3, the local community came together at Maligawatte Jumma Masjid to honor and invoke blessings upon the police service for its 157 years of dedicated service to the community.
This program was a remarkable moment of unity, where the community and police officers joined hands in celebration and reflection. After the heartfelt invocation by the imam, who prayed for the safety and well-being of the police officers, their families, and the entire community, Bathiya Jayasinghe, OIC of Maligawatte Police Station emphasized that the police service is not just a profession but a commitment to protect and serve the community with honor and integrity. He stated, “Our duty goes beyond enforcing laws; it is about building trust, fostering relationships, and creating a safer environment for all.”
In commemoration of Police Day and as a token of appreciation for Officer Jayasinghe’s inspirational speech and the dedicated service by Maligawatte Police Station, a special memento was presented by the board of management during the program at the mosque..
