COLOMBO : A special ceremony organized by the Colombo Municipal Council to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH)was held yesterday Sunday evening Oct.17.
The colorful event held under the chairmanship of in front of the Municipal Council under the chairmanship of Deputy Mayor M.T.M. Iqbal with Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake as the Chief Guest of the event.
Many members of the council, including Buddhist religious leaders, attended the health services.
Mayor Rosy Senanayake inaugurated a special electronic decoration in front of the city to commemorate the event. In this multi-ethnic country.
The special events and illuminations were organized by the municipality to honor the religious values of the respective communities.
The Colombo MC, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Members must be congratulated for their noble task in celebrating “Meelad-un-Nabi” to commemorate the birth anniversary of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, Sal. OWBP. The Muslims world over remember this event as very auspicious. We all should appreciate the gracious gesture of those belonging to the Sinhala Buddhist, Hindu and Christian faiths in joining in unity to express their solidarity in honoring this great soul that was sent as a Messenger of Allah to propagate the religion of Islam as a way of life for peace harmony and co-existence in this beautiful nation of multi racial multi ethnic and militia religious citizens. May Allah safeguard, protect and guide this country and people and usher in an era of economic stability, unity, harmony, peace, tranquility, prosperity and an atmosphere of brotherhood and friendship eschewing arrogance, ego, hatred, violence, racism, jealousy, spite, back-biting, and hypocrisy.
