COLOMBO : The Colombo District Masjids Federation (CDMF) has donated a sum of *Rs.27,268,592/-* from Their mosque collective network in aid of children of Palestine who are being subjected to horrendous war crimes caused by Israel and its aids.
The Colombo District Masjids Federation (CDMF) is a collective of 182 mosques in the District of Colombo. CDMF consists of 12 zonal federations and is engaged in providing socio-economic assistance to the people of Colombo. “ We have acted unitedly at times of natural disasters both domestically and globally,” a statement from the collective said here on Monday, June 10.
Details of collections of funds by zonal vice as follows:
1. Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Masjids Federation – Rs.9,012,640/-
2. Kirulapona Masjids Federation – Rs.1,000,000/-
3. Pettah (Central) Masjids Federation – Rs.1,325,000/-
4. Aluthkade Masjids Federation – Rs.1,014,337/-
5. Maradana Masjids Federation – Rs.1,246,510/-
6. Dematagoda Masjids Federation – Rs. 660,800/-
7. Kollonnawa Division Masjid Federation – Rs.2,527,475/-
8. Colombo North Masjids Federation – Rs.2,044,000/-
9. Grandpass Masjids Federation – Rs.1,519,440/-
10. KompannaVeediya Masjids Federation – Rs.1,100,190/-
11. Kollupitiya Masjids Federation – Rs.1,260,200/-
12. Maligawatta Masjids Federation – Rs.4,000,000/-
13. Other well wishers.

CDMF has urged the government to utilize these funds to provide aid, especially to the children of Gaza, through suitable agencies such as UNWRA or similar such agencies.
Further, CDMF has appealed to the government of Sri Lanka to channel these funds with haste, as the situation calls for.
CDMF will lobby with the government to assist the Palestinian cause as it has been doing in the past.
Also, a copy of all documentation of donation/fund were handed over to the officials of Palestine Embassy in Sri Lanka.
CDMF will further follow up on this matter with UNWRA and other similar agencies who were direct consultations with Sri Lanka for Palestinians relief work.
