COLOMBO- The Colombo District Federation led by Attorney-At-Law Shiraz Noordeen in association with the Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs (MRCA) headed by Z A M Faizal hosted an Iftar reception for members of all communities at the Jawatte Mosque in Colombo 7 on Monday, April 10.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickremanayake said such meetings are important to strengthen the unity among all communities in the island. He pointed out that peaceful coexistence is an important ingredient to build a healthy nation.
Shiraz Noordeen said the meeting brings together Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Christians together under one banner to bridge the gap, if any, between the communities.
MRCA director Faizal and All-Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama President Rizwie Mufthi also spoke at the gathering. Hajj Committee Chairman Ibrahim Sahib Ansar was also present at the event.
