COLOMBO – Cinnamon Grand hotel in its inimitable style lived up to their name and put on the best of shows in the city at their Christmas Tree lighting ceremony last week.
The “grand” event had sparklers as the backdrop at the lobby which was aptly and beautifully decorated for the season with even a snow-block house- an Igloo as the centre-piece that added much joy to the children’s fun. Santa Clause arrived on a Harley-Davidson bike that raved up the scene to fever pitch excitement for the official countdown to switch on the Cinnamon Grand’s Christmas Tree lights.
Area President-Cinnamon Colombo Hotels and General Manager Cinnamon Grand- Kamal Munasinghe, ceremoniously did the honours to declare the season open to the loud cheers of the invited well-wishers and his multi-talented team gathered around for the spectacular ceremony that was filled with seasonal cheer.
No sooner the lights came on illuminating the majestic Christmas tree, we witnessed an enchanting sight of snow falling from above creating an atmosphere of a winter wonderland that captivated the crowd.
Invitees sang along with the seasonal renditions belted out by Soundarie David’s Junior Choir that serenaded those gathered at the lobby and enjoyed a great choice of seasonal beverages that flowed flawlessly with plenty of tasty sweetmeats and savories served for good measure.
The city folks from varied fields, dressed in grand festive attire were chit chatting into the late evening and posing besides the many novel festive décor the hotel had in every corner of the façade capturing the colourful moments, making memories. It was observed the “Grand” gets grander with each year. The mesmerizing moments and the seasonal spirit the hotel created this time too will stay in our minds the entire season and will no doubt tempt us, the connoisseurs of good food to make more visits to this wonderland to keep recreating the moments with loved ones by partaking in the grand programme that Cinnamon Grand has lined up for the next three weeks.

The Christmas Day lunches are being held in three locations, namely at the Plates, you can savour the International Christmas Buffet and at the Cheers Pub’s the ‘Traditional Roast’ takes place with Jazz music and at the Lagoon it will be on A La Carte Menu- you get to choose your own favourite dish!
