CHARNIKA IMBULANA
COLOMBO
The Cinnamon Colombo Hotel situated by the Lake, aptly named ‘Cinnamon Lakeside’ is by far a favourite of those who have for the many years of its existence patronized this hotel and described as one akin to a mini Royal Kingdom.
A certain majestic exterior and a lavish interior have beckoned the traveller from afar and near from its inception to only return again and again to feel like Royalty. For this year’s festivities, just like before they‘ve prepared to receive guests and give them the Royal treatment.
Cinnamon Lakeside thus kicked off its festivities in the most opulent manner with the lighting of the Christmas tree at the start of the month itself. In the presence of Area Vice President Cinnamon Colombo Hotels, Kamal Munasinghe, the switching on of the hotel’s festive lights took place with General Manager Cinnamon Lakeside, Nazoomi Azhar doing the honours, who was ably supported by the hotel team. The entire building and its environs illuminated into a wonderland.
Having a picturesque scenic backdrop and situated in the centre of the capitol city is in itself a huge advantage that makes the Cinnamon Lakeside, to stand out from the rest of the hotels in the vicinity. The festive programme promises to be equally unmatched.
One is firstly confronted with the “Goodies Hut” no sooner you enter, at the Lobby itself. An endless array of cakes, pastries seasonal delicacies and Christmas hampers in every conceivable size is available.
What is most deserving of special mention is the hotel’s Christmas cake, created out of a truly memorable cake mixing event that took place two months hence. If the much hyped up event which is so looked forward to by well -wishers serves as a prelude to what is to follow, then for the rest of the season of what’s on offer at Cinnamon Lakeside cannot disappoint.
Festive High Tea
The Festive High Tea on the weekends at the Lounge as some say is akin to the one given by the famed late Queen at her country residence in Sandrigam. Possibly the free flowing mulled wine and the huge spread of sweetmeats and savories is what earned that reputation. Special Christmas themed High Tea Platter on weekdays actually is enough for two!
Christmas Carols at Lobby Lounge
Those who cannot get into the spirit of the season without the Carols can enjoy an hour from 7pm to 8 pm of the traditional renditions to serenade you at the Lobby Lounge on December 24th and 25th.
Christmas fare
Cinnamon Lakeside’s exclusive formal Christmas sumptuous food spreads starts with the Christmas Eve Dinner at the ‘Dining Room’ and ‘King’s Court’. The decadent banquet maybe seen by some as a tad to opulent, but for the ‘foodies’ it’s a feast to savor. The live music in the background will get you into the swing of things.
The same two venues, ‘Dining Room’ and King’s Court’ will be ready for the Christmas Day Lunch from 12 noon to 3 pm. Speak of the traditional and the modern dishes you get it all in a sumptuous spread fit for an Emperor and Empress with their brood to enjoy -the ultimate in Christmas fare.
Christmas Day Dinner
A heavenly dinner is what one can look forward to going by what the F& B dept. informs. Many surprises in store with even a Santa visit which the children gathered will relish. Cinnamon Lakeside seems to have given lot of thought to the children’s welfare and arranged a kids’ corner on both days, so that they have their very own special corner to have loads of fun.
New Year dawn like no other
To see in the year 2025, Cinnamon Lakeside has come up with a ‘James Bond Dinner Dance Gala’ that is billed to give them the license to thrill. A line up of star musicians will be in attendance namely, Sohan & the Experiments with AROH and Guest Artists Judy de Silva, Geofrey Fernando, J Pal, Nirasha Natalie & Falon Andrea. Besides this exclusive Dinner Dance, a ticket holder of this gets to storm the legendary poolside party officiated by DJ Dupuy with Jay on drums from the UK and even to partake in the longest buffet in town at the pool terrace too. You can make your moves like how Bond did in his movies- to experience a real block-buster night.
Longest buffet in town
Last but certainly not the least, a feast fit for Royalty dubbed “the longest buffet in town” will stretch from the Dining Room, Royal Thai Long Feng and Colmbar combined. Nothing screams “extra” quite as emphatically as this. Word on the streets is that true gourmands in Sri Lanka have taken to workout regimens to prepare for this exquisite unbelievable long spread of quality and quantity. At the crack of dawn you would have your fill in a right Royal fashion and even be served a New Year’s Breakfast too, if you so desire to start off year 2025 in style!
