BEIJING : A Chinese company called Kaiwa Technology has unveiled plans for a humanoid robot with an artificial womb that could one day carry a pregnancy and give birth to a baby.
🔹 The concept was shown at the 2025 World Robot Conference in Beijing.
🔹 The robot would use an artificial womb system to support fetal growth.
🔹 Earlier versions of this technology were tested on animals, like the “biobag” used for premature lambs in 2017.
🔹 The company hopes to have a prototype by 2026, with an estimated cost of around 100,000 yuan ($13,900 USD).
🔹 Local authorities in Guangdong Province are already reviewing laws and ethics related to this technology.
⚠️ Important: While the announcement is real, no robot has yet given birth to a human baby. The science is still experimental, and experts say there are many technical and ethical challenges before this could ever become reality.Tech News
