COLOMBO- The celebrations for the 66th National Day of Malaysia were held at the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo on Thursday Aug. 31.
Chief Guest Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe along with Counselor of Malaysian Embassy Mohammad Tuming cut the cake.
Counselor Tuming was representing the high commissioner Badli Hisham Adam who is out of the island because of his mother Khadija’s death.The national day reception started with a minute silence as a mark of respect to the high commisioner’s deceased mother Khadija.
Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara, State Minister of Higher Education Suren Raghavan, Uva Province Governor A.J.M. Muzammil, Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman, Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council President M.H.K.M.
