COLOMBO : The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Management of the Sabaragamuwa University, successfully conducted a specialized MICE Training Programme at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Held at the Faculty of Management Auditorium, the comprehensive session brought together undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Tourism Management and Hospitality Management.
The full day program was specifically designed to build MICE tourism awareness among the undergraduates and nurture a highly skilled future talent pool for the country’s expanding tourism sector. To achieve these goals, the session covered several core industry modules. Key topics explored throughout the day included foundational MICE industry trends, efficient event planning operations, event technology integration and sustainable risk management practices.
Enhancing the educational experience, the workshop featured an engaging panel discussion where participants benefited from valuable knowledge exchange and key industry insights. Students also actively took part in group presentations, carefully examining the MICE tourism potential across five different regions in Sri Lanka. Ultimately, this interactive workshop successfully bridged academic coursework with practical market standards. By aligning closely with the national MICE Tourism Road Map, the initiative reinforced vital industry academia partnerships, paving the way for Sri Lanka’s long-term business tourism growth.
