COLOMBO — United Peace Alliance organized Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trophy 9 A Side Soccer Tournament for the tenth consecutive year to commemorate the 75th year of Sri Lanka and Pakistan Friendship.
It was held at the Rathnam Playground, Colombo on Monday January 13 under the patronage of the leader of United Peace Alliance I.N.M. Miflar and Founder and Ex MMC Kaleel ur Rahuman.
There were 24 teams in the tournament and finally Battaramulla Sports Club beat Maligawatte Veterans in penalties to clinch the championship.
Captain of the Battaramulla Sports Club Jihan Perera received the champion trophy with rupees 250, 000 cash prize from chief guest High Commissioner of Pakistan Major General (R) Faheem Ul Aziz.
Also runners up team Maligawatte Veterans, 3rd place Galle Legend Sports Club and 4th Place Java Lane Sports Club received cash prizes and awards.
Most Valuable Player of Battaramulla Sports Club Isuru Perera, Best Goal Keeper of Maligawatte Veterans Ajith Perera and Man of the Tournament of Battaramulla Sports Club Isuru Perera received awards, gold medals and certificates from the guests.
Colombo District Member of Parliament S. M. Marikkar, Former Members of Colombo Municipal Council M.P. Cader and S.M. Muzzamil with National Soccer Players Mohamed Amanullah and Akib Faizer including Pakistan High Commission senior officials and United Peace Alliance members were also present on the grounds.
