COLOMBO — High Commission of Bangladesh and Ministry of Education co organized International Mother Language Day on the theme “Language for Peace and Harmony “at Independence Square, Colombo on Friday February 21.
It was held under the patronage of High Commissioner for Bangladesh Andalib Ellas.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya was present as chief guest.
Fifteen winners of Children’s Creative Writing, Video Making and Art Competition received their certificates from the Prime Minister.
Song performed by the Muslim Choral Ensemble Sri Lanka and High Commission of Bangladesh.
Students of the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Goethe Institute Sri Lanka, Japanese performance presented by Lanka Nippon Biztech Institute, Kaleniya University Korean Language Department team Students, Maldivian Education and Cultural Center Students, Russian House and SAARC Cultural Centre and Roots of Lanka Foundation Fusion dance of SAARC region presented performance at this ceremony.
Acting UN Resident Coordinator Kunnle Adenlyi including Diplomats, Education Ministry Officials, teachers and students were also present.
