Seven of the eight Muslim remand prisoners in the Badulla jail were assaulted by a group of their inmates during their dinner time on Friday, December 10. The Muslim prisoners were suspects of the Easter Sunday bomb blasts. The clash had occurred when the dinner was served to the prison inmates. Seven of the Muslim prisoners were admitted to the hospital following the incident.
Informed sources told Colombo Times, the three prisoners have been transferred from the Badulla prisons and all the prisoners who were treated at the Badulla hospital have been discharged.
The sources affirmed that the prison authorities in cooperation with the police are conducting investigation on the incident and suitable action be taken when the final report submitted to the Prison Commissioner.
