COLOMBO- Former Western Province Governor and National Unity Alliance Leader Azath Salley who was arrested in March under the Prevention and Terrorism Act, was admitted to a hospital in Colombo due to ill-health on Tuesday.
According to family sources,Salley’s wife who visits at the office of the Criminal Investigations Department, had complained through her lawyer, Gowri Shankar Thavarasa, that her husband health was dwindling, hence he would need hospital care.
Salley was arrested by the CID on March 19 and following his arrest, his wife filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court challenging the arrest.
Colombo Times learned that Salley’s wife had complained through her lawyer indicating that if proper medical treatment is not given to her husband in time, his life would be in danger.
