KANDY : On behalf of the Buddhist clergy, the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero has commended the prompt action of Pakistan Premier Imran Khan in dealing with the Sialkot tragedy which had killed an innocent Sri Lankan working in Pakistan.
While admitting it as an action carried out by an identified extremist group which the whole world condemned, the Mahanayake lauded the spontaneous reaction of the premier which pinned down the incident which could have brought shame to his country.
Venerable Gnanarathana Thero pointed out that right after the incident the Pakistani Prime Minister had immediately condemned the attack, ensured the arrest of the extremists involved in the murder, and had taken measures to enforce the law against them. He further said the actions of the Pakistani Prime Minister will further strengthen the long-standing cordial and friendly ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
By your actions, the Mahanayake said the people of Sri Lanka have reposed a trust and faith in your vision and promise to bring justice and create a safe environment for Lankans as well as other expatriates who are working in Pakistan.
“ The people of Sri Lanka have trust and faith in you as a successful leader and remember the class you showed in the field of cricket,” the Mahanayake concluded.
