COLOMBO- A massive signature campaign was launched in the afternoon on Thursday, Sept.22 to repeal the PTA which is implemented to arrest peaceful protesters at random.
The campaign led by parliamentarian M A Sumanthiran, SLMC Leader Rauf Hakeem and Mujibur Rahman MP comprised MPs and supporters of all opposition parties and trade unions.
People from all walks of life including members of the clergy voluntarily signed the petition urging the government to repeal the PTA.
Sumanthiran told newsmen that the campaign which started in Mullaitivu traversed to Hambantota and came to Colombo and would cover all parts of the country to ensure a wider representation of people.
