MUMBAI : : Anti-Muslim violence broke out in Indian state of Maharashtra over a social media post that glorified Mughal Muslim emperor Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan with Hindutva activists vandalizing properties of Muslims and damaging their vehicles in many areas of the state.
The Hindutva outfits observed a strike in Kolhapur city, which quickly escalated into anti-Muslim violent protests.
The protesters gathered at the Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and started raising slogans against the social media activists.
“We will not tolerate the glorification of Mughal Muslim leaders in our Maratha land. We are ready to pick up swords for the protection of Hindu society. This will not be tolerated,” aggressive protesters said.
Some of the protesters fanned out across the nearby areas and vandalized properties of Muslims and damaged their vehicles in the areas.KMS
