COLOMBO — The Islamic Society of St. Clare’s College, Wellawatte Colombo celebrated its annual Islamic Day at the College Hall on Friday May 23.
It was held under the patronage of Principal of the College Hemamali Wijesuriya.
Attorney at Law M.Z.F. Zaaima was present as chief guest and distributed medals and certificates to the students who took part in various contests such as Quirath, Qaseeda, Hifl, Calligraphy and Essay.
Gransdpass Al Nasar Maha Vidyalaya Staff Moulavi M.N.M. Maazin was present as a guest speaker and students presented Qaseeda and Arabic Songs at this ceremony.
The Principal of the College presented a token of appreciation to the chief guest
Deputy Principals Ms. T.B.M. Zahir, Ms. Usha Karunaiswaran, Islamic Society teacher in charge Ms. Hishama Nawas and Ms. Zulaiha Nawzeer and Primary Section Ms. Jahana Begum weresalso present at the event.
President of the Islamic Society Fathima Mafaza, Secretary Fathima Ishra and members including teachers, students, old girls and parents were also present at the event.
