COLOMBO : Extensive arrangements are being made by the All Ceylon YMMA Conference to organize an essay competition for school children through the Member YMMA’s throughout the Island to commemorate Meelad-un-Nabi Celebrations.
President of the YMMA Conference Ihsan Ahamed Hameed told Colombo Times that the contest is being organized as an effort to promote the Life and times of the “Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sal)”. Thus, the theme shall be “The Life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sal)”.
This competition will be for Sinhala and Tamil medium students (both genders) and the age categories are as follows.
- Age group 09 to 12 years – 250 words (minimum)
- Age group 13 to 16 years – 500 words (minimum)
Competition and Prize Giving are to be conducted by the respective branches under the supervision of their panel of Judges.
The name of the first three prize winners to be forwarded to the YMMA Conference with their original written Essays. The Y Conference will select the best three winners from both age groups and valuable prizes and certificates will be issued to the lucky winners.
Branch YMMA’s have been requested to start organizing the above programme and send the names 10 days prior to the Meelad-un-Nabi Commemoration day (28.09.2023).Member YMMAs have been asked to contact Shibly Hashim, Secretary Religious Committee for further details.
