


COLOMBO – The All Ceylon YMMA Conference continues its mission of empowering youth through education with the Scholarship Project – 2026 Batch, as presented by Scholarship Project Chairman Rizvi Farouk at Mandarina Hotel on Friday October 24.
During his address, Farouk emphasized the project’s aim to support deserving students in their academic journey from G.C.E. O/L to G.C.E. A/L, by offering not only financial assistance but also mentorship and personal development opportunities.
He stated that the program aspires to ensure at least 40% of scholarship recipients gain entry into state universities, while 60% pursue tertiary or professional qualifications, ultimately nurturing socially responsible future leaders.
The inaugural Batch 1.0 (2024 Intake) drew significant participation, with 888 applications, 510 interviews, and 260 scholarships awarded across six districts such as Colombo, Kalutara, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, and Ampara.
The batch included 61.5% female and 38.5% male students, with representation from all major academic streams.
Farouk also highlighted the collaboration with Amana Bank, which provides free account opening, debit card access for minor account holders, and instant SMS alerts, ensuring students manage their funds securely and transparently.
Looking ahead, he announced the Next Phase (2025–2026), which will include:
A Capacity-Building Seminar across five districts, Implementation of a standardized progress report and attendance system,Distribution and evaluation of model papers, and The launch of Scholarship Batch 2.0 (2027 A/L).
The total estimated cost for the upcoming phase, including all related activities and support initiatives, stands at LKR 14,042,000.
In closing, Farouk shared inspiring feedback from scholarship recipients who expressed their gratitude, stating how the program has helped them stay focused, reduce financial burdens, and pursue their academic goals with renewed confidence.
