
COLOMBO : The All-Ceylon YMMA Conference ( ACYMMAC ) commemorate its 75th Year Platinum Jubilee Founders Day on Wednesday, April 30, at Gafoor Hall, Zahira College, Colombo 10.
Founded on April 30, 1950, the All-Ceylon YMMA Conference has stood as a youth-centered and community-driven organization, dedicated to empowering the youth of Sri Lanka spiritually, intellectually and socially through services, education and leadership.
It was on that historic day, April 30, 1950, that a significant gathering of 67 delegates from 17 YMMA branches across the island took place at Zahira College, Colombo. This seminal meeting witnessed the formal inauguration of the All-Ceylon YMMA Conference, with Dr. A.M.A. Azeez elected as its founding President and Lafir Cassim as Secretary. It marked a defining moment in the history of Muslim youth activism in Sri Lanka.
The commemorative event will be held under the patronage of National President Amhar M. Shareef, along with members of the Executive Committee.
The Chief Guest for the occasion will be President’s Counsel M. Faisz Musthapha, Chancellor of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. The keynote address will be delivered by former Parliamentarian and President’s Counsel M.M. Zuhair, who was the island’s ambassador in Tehran.
Special guests attending include Deputy Speaker Rizvi Salih,. Trizviiy Marikkar (Principal of Zahira College, Colombo 10), Ali Azeez, and Mr. Nisthar Cassim, honouring the legacies of the founding President and Secretary of the ACYMMAC.
Former Sri Lanka. Ambassador in Palestine Fawzan Anver who is the chairman of the Founders Day Celebrations Committee is coordinating the arrangements for the Wednesday’s event.
