COLOMBO -June 15 marks the 10th death anniversary of As Seyyed Alavi Moulana Jamalul Lail, a respected leader who served Sri Lanka as Minister of Labour and Governor of the Western Province.
He is remembered as a true fighter for labour rights, always standing with working people and speaking for justice, dignity, and fairness.
He was also a leader who mingled freely with every community, earning respect and friendship across all walks of life. Many remember his unique way of speaking—jovial, warm, and often in rhyming words, which made his presence both engaging and memorable.
Beyond politics, he was known as a humble and kind-hearted human being, deeply respected by those who knew him.
On this day, we remember his service and pray that Allah (SWT) grants him mercy, forgiveness, and the highest place in Jannatul Firdous.
