COLOMBO – The Attorney General’s Department has announced plans to file another indictment against Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Daisy Forrest, relating to a separate land transaction.
The indictment follows charges filed last Friday at the Colombo High Court against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and his grandmother Daisy Forrest Wickremesinghe.
The charges include offenses under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, connected to the purchase of properties, including land in Sirimal Uyana in Ratmalana and Dehiwala areas, for over Rs. 50 million.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on January 25 and remanded in custody in relation to the purchase of a 34.5-perch plot of land in Sirimal Uyana for over Rs. 36 million.
However, he was granted bail by the Colombo Additional Magistrate on January 27.-News First
