COLOMBO- President of the All-Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, ACJU, Mufti M. I. M. Rizwe said here on Sunday, Jan 30 that the Sri Lankan community always respect the views ad ideologies of the Ulama board for a peaceful living.
The Mufti was addressing more tjhan 200 renowned Islamic scholars from all parts of the island at a book launching ceremony at the Zahira College Colombo on Sunday,Jan 30.
The book launched was titled “Serendib Kanda Saanrorgal (a compilation of the history of 100 Islamic religious scholars of Sri Lanka)”, authored by Marhoom Ash-Shaikh M. M. A. Mubarak (Madani), who was a former President and General Secretary of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama.
President of the ACJU, which has more than 160 branches urged the members of the Sri Lankan Muslim community to live in unity in diversity among their brethren. He pointed out that the community has differences within and it is upto its members to live happily among others with tolerance and compromise so that a better society could be created which would eventually lead to a better nation. “ We also must learn to coexist with the members of the other faiths so that Sri Lanka will be a peaceful home for all its citizens irrespective of religion .color or caste.
Leading Islamic scholars received the first copy of the book from Mufti Rezwe and on behalf of popular philanthropist Haji Illyas Kareem, owner of Maliban Textiles, Traveler Global Managing Director Rizmi Reyal received the first copy from the Secretary General of the ACJU Sheikh Arkam Nooramith.
Ash-Shaikh Al-Qari Muhammad Fahmi recited Qirath in order to start the proceedings for the event. Afterwards, one of the Vice Presidents of the ACJU Ash-Shaikh H. Omardeen delivered the welcome speech. The General Secretary of the ACJU Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith then proceeded to deliver an explanation about the activities of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama.
A video documentary on Marhoom Ash-Shaikh Al-Usthad M.M.A. Mubarak (Rah) was played on the screen, whereas Ash-Shaikh S. L. Naufer of the Executive Committee of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama presented the life history of Marhoom Hazrat M.M.A. Mubarak (Rah) in brief. Following. that, Ash-Shaikh M. T. M. Salman of the ACJU Fatwa Committee gave an introduction about the book to the audience.
Thereafter, special guests of the event, Aalims, well wishers and all the attendees were given copies of the book, and also the family of Marhoom Ash-Shaikh Al-Usthad M.M.A. Mubarak (Rah) was presented with a memorial plaque.
