COLOMBO : The late Ambassador Al Haj Y. L. M. Zawahir will always be remembered as a distinguished diplomat, an exemplary community leader, and a gentleman of exceptional character. Beyond his distinguished diplomatic career, Ambassador Zawahir was deeply committed to the advancement and well-being of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka. As a Board Member of the Muslim Council of Sri Lanka, he played a valuable role in promoting unity, dialogue, education, and social progress. His thoughtful contributions and balanced leadership helped strengthen community institutions and foster greater understanding among diverse communities.
Known for his humility, professionalism, and unwavering sense of duty, he touched countless lives through his service, mentorship, and compassionate guidance. His legacy is one of integrity, wisdom, and selfless commitment to both country and community.
As we remember his remarkable life and many contributions, we pay tribute to a man who served with honour and distinction. His memory will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the values of service, justice, and community leadership that he so faithfully embodied.
