COLOMBO – A newly constructed spacious Mosque for five times daily prayers , was opened on Sunday July 30 at Maligawatte Muslim Burial Grounds in the presence of a distinguished gathering.
The new mosque was constructed by Ummu Zavaya Board of Trustees Chairman Deshabandu Macky Hashim and his family members.
Colombo Grand Mosque Secretary Faris Fahmy delivered the welcome address at the opening ceremony. Ajwadul Fassiya Arabic College Principal and Ummu Zavaya Chief Katheeb Kaleefathul Shazuli Ahamed Sufi Mahlari and Ummu Zavaya Board of Trustees Chairman Deshabandu Macky Hashim were present at the even.
Macky Hashim addressed the gathering,while the Colombo Grand Mosque Imam Moulavi M.B.M. Hisham conducted maiden prayers at this worshipping place.
Colombo District Parliamentarians A.H.M. Fowzie, S. M. Marikkar, UVA Province Governor A.J.M. Muzammil, Former Deputy Mayor of Colombo M.T.M. Iqbal, former Governor Western Province Azath Salley, Colombo Grand Mosque President Thahir Razeen, Trustees of the Mosques and Principals of the Arabic College were also present.
