


MALE : A seminar roundtable on “Hydrography in the Indian Ocean: The Sri Lankan Experience and the Blue Economy” was held today at The Maldives National University (MNU), organised by the School of Security and Strategic Studies (SSSS), MNU.
Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Vice Chancellor of MNU, delivered the opening and welcome remarks, highlighting the relevance of hydrography to MNU and SSSS, particularly its connection to the Maldives’ blue economy ambitions.
The keynote address by Sri Lankan Rear Admiral Y.N. Jayarathna (Retd.) highlighted the interconnected nature of hydrography, the value of its data beyond strategic use, and the importance of encouraging young people to engage in the field.
The seminar brought together representatives from key government, security and law enforcement institutions, as well as MNU deans, academics and research students.
