COLOMBO : A 2-day training session was held at the Green Experience Centre, Elamaldeniya, Kandy, for all Quazi Judges on *Sunday, 26th January, and Monday, 27th January 2025.
The programme was conducted with the acknowledgement of Judicial Services Commission.
This session was organized by the Sri Lanka Quazi Judges Forum in cooperation with the Zam Zam Foundation.
Around 52 Quazis are practising across the island, with 13 Quazi posts remaining vacant. Out of the 52, 34 Quazi Judges participated in the training programme
The Deputy Minister for National Integration Shiekh Muneer Mulaffar was the chief guest.
One of the highlights of this training was the moot court sessions, which provided the Quazis with a valuable opportunity for hands-on learning. They received demonstrations on how to handle cases related to Talaq Divorce, Fasah Divorce, Maintenance, and the process of issuing a Wali Guardianship Permit.
The session was conducted by the following distinguished individuals: Nadvi Bahaudeen AAL*, former Chairman of the Board of Quazis, Daabir Sawwad, former member of the Board of QuazisbSheikh A.L.A.M. Fausz, former President of SLQJF and Quazi of Mawanella
The Chairman of the Zam Zam Foundation, Sheikh Mufti Yoosuff Haniffa, and the Course Director, Sheikh Amhar Hakamdeen, also addressed the gathering.
Additionally, Ms. Shakira Mansoor, a psychological counsellor, spoke about the current issues in families and shared insights on how to promote reconciliation among couples.
The training had a very positive impact on the Quazis, and many expressed their commitment to improving their performance in their respective offices in the future.
The Forum President, M. Ifham Yehiya , and the General Secretary, Amhar Shareef, also shared their valuable insights during the event.
The Zam Zam Foundation kindly arranged for the food and lodging for all the Quazis attending the training.
