COLOMBO — The All Ceylon YMMA Conference inaugurated an Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition in collaboration with Arabic Calligraphy Association of Sri Lanka to mark the 75th Platinum Jubilee on Saturday June 28 at at the YMMA Headquarters and will be continued through Sunday June 29.
It was held under the patronage of the National President of the YMMA Amhar Shereef.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. Rizvie Salih was the chief guest who and declared open the exhibition and also Arabic Calligraphy Website. On arrival, Deputy speaker’s wife Sarah was welcomed by past president’s daughter Fathima Nuha Thassim.
Addressing the gathering, Salih said his father was a active member of the Katugoda YMMA and he praised the YMMA Yeo an services rendered by the organisation . He also recalled the services of the forefathers who started this calligraphy and its so inspiring.
Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister M.B.M. Ashroff, YMMA 75th Anniversary Committee Chairman Ashroff Rumy addressed the gathering. Also Egyptian Embassy Social Secretary Madushanika Liyanage addressed the gathering in Arabic language.
Colombo Times Chief Editor and Arab News Chief Sri Lanka Correspondent Mohamed Rasooldeen, YWMA President Fawaza Thaha, School Principals, students, YMMA Past Presidentsi and Members were also present.The programme was compered by Zaid Thaha.
