COLOMBO – Today, as Muslims across the world mark the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, I extend my warmest greetings to all those celebrating this significant day.
Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the values of faith, devotion, and selflessness, symbolized by the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to make the ultimate sacrifice. It also serves as a time for reflection, compassion, and unity among people.
The annual Hajj pilgrimage, which draws millions to Makkah, is a powerful reminder of equality, humility, and the shared aspirations of humanity. It emphasizes not only spiritual devotion but also the importance of solidarity, discipline, and social responsibility.
This festival carries a timeless message—one of peaceful coexistence, empathy, and respect among all communities. In the spirit of Eid, I encourage all citizens to foster understanding and mutual respect, while upholding the values of harmony and inclusivity that bind us together as a nation.
May this festive season bring peace, blessings, and renewed purpose to all.
Eid Mubarak!
