COLOMBO — The 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka Commemorates the Celebration was held at the ITC Hotel, Colombo on Tuesday March 11.
It was held under the patronage of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Khalid Hamoud Alkahtani.
The chief guest of the ceremony Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra praised the Saudi Arabia Government’s contribution to Sri Lanka in many ways and the relationship between the two countries is based on the principle of mutual respect and cooperation in various fields. Also he recalled the Saudi Embassy’s conducted medical camp in Walasmulla recently.
The Ambassador Khalid Hamoud Alkahtani presented mementoss to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra behalf of the Saudi Arabia Embassy.
A 10. Minute documentary highlighting the main features of the bilateral relations was screened during the event.
Deputy Minister of National Integration Muneer Mulaffer, Saudi Arabia Arab News Chief Correspondent and Colombo Times Editor in Chief Mohammad Rasooldeen, Ambassadors, Foreign Ministry Senior Official’s and Embassy Staff were also present.
