
RIYADH ::The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia O.L. Ameer Ajwad felicitated four students who won bronze medals at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad 2024 hosted by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh from 21 – 30 July 2024.
The International Chemistry Olympiad is held annually in various nations, serving as the largest international competition in chemistry for high-school students worldwide. 333 talented young students from 90 countries participated in the competitions this time. All four Sri Lankan young students who participated in the competitions won bronze medals.
The award-winning students were Pahanma Lenora of Sanghamiththa Balika Vidyalaya, Galle, P.R.S.D.N.Palihawadana of Royal College, Colombo, Vajra Neth Wijesooriya of Ananda College, Colombo, and Sreemaathuri Sinthanaichselvan of the Ramanathan Hindu Ladies’ College, Colombo.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad hosted a luncheon in honour of the award-winning Sri Lankan students who brought fame to the country from the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad 2024, in the Embassy premises in Riyadh.
Supervisors of the team of Sri Lankan students to the Olympiad and the staff of the Embassy also attended the event held at the Embassy premises in Riyadh.
