The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA) is Sri Lanka’s largest female-led volunteer organisation for girls and young women with 107 years of proud service to the nation.
Guiding was introduced to Sri Lanka in 1917 by Miss Jennie Calverley, a young teacher from England who joined the school staff of Girls’ High school Kandy where the first Guide Company was formed.
The Colombo district walk was organized by Ms. Okila Perera and her team. The Chief Commissioner, Dr. Kushantha Herath, The Deputy Chief Commissioner, Mrs. Nirmalee William and the Assistant Chief Commissioner, Mrs. Nanduni Wickramatunga along with the members from all Branches, which includes Butterflies, Little Friends, Guides, Rangers, Guides from the Differently Abled Branch, Commissioners past and present and members of the National Executive Committee were all present at the event.
This was a wonderful display of solidarity, sisterhood and togetherness of the Girl Guide family around the island.
