COLOMBO ; Actor turned politician Uddika Premarathne of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has resigned as a Member of Parliament from Anuradhapura District
The parliamentarian has handed over the letter of resignation to the Deputy General Secretary of Parliament earlier Tuesday (Feb.27).
Accordingly, the Election Commission will be informed of the MP seat in the House left vacant after Premarathne’s resignation, the Communication Department of Parliament said in a press release. Premaratne said he had entered the political arena in the hopes of creating change as a young leader. However, he added as the opportunity has not been presented over the last few years, it is difficult to take forward his work as an individual
