COLOMBO – The 159th birth anniversary of Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala was held at the Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Maradana , Colombo on Sunday September 17.
It was held under the patronage of Principal of the School W.B.G. Kumuduni. Ananda Balika was established on January 25, 1925 in Campbell Street, Borella by Anagarika Dharmapala.
Maha Sanga conducted religious programmes and spoke on Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala life and his services to the Buddhasasana and Community.
The Principal, Staff, Students and Old Girls paid floral tributes to the statue of Anagarika Dharmapala.
Also launched two books of life and service of Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala and Principal W.B.G. Kumuduni presented the maiden copies of books to Maha Sanga.
Principal W.B.G. Kumuduni praised the services of Anagarika Dharmapala for the Country and the Buddhist Community and she said the country needs such leadership. Principal invited all the people visit to the Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala’s Museum and large number of Daham Passal students and teachers visited to the Museum.
Former Assistant Principal Madavi Dissanayake, Old Girls Association Vice President Manjula De Silva, Secretary Sujikala Wickramasinghe, Advisor Ruchira Yapa Abeywardena and members , teachers and students were also present.
