COLOMBO: Sri Lankan parliament speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said on Wednesday May 5 that the election to elect the Deputy Speaker will be held today (5).
He said that the President had accepted the resignation letter submitted by former Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya resigned from the position on April 5 following the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)’s decision to withdraw from the crisis-hit government.
