


JAFFNA: United States Ambassador in Colombo Julie Chung visited the northern Sri Lankan on Tuesday, April 26.
During her brief visit, she interacted with people from all walks of life in Jaffna.
In a statement, Chung said : “ Everyone deserves to know what happened to their loved ones. Today I heard firsthand the heartbreaking stories of people who lost family members during the civil war – a reminder of the need for both accountability and reconciliation.”
During her visit to the US elimination of landmine project, she observed: “ U.S. efforts to eliminate landmines exemplify our commitment to Sri Lankan security. We support local demining partners like DASH to contribute to resettlement and rehabilitation, and to make land viable for local communities’ livelihoods.
Following her meeting of the officials from PLOTEand the TNPA to discuss the current crisis and its impact on their constituents, she had to say: “The only way to solve today’s challenges is for everyone to work together – and to ensure the interests of all Sri Lankans are represented in the solution.’
