MALE: The remains of the young Sri Lankan footballer,Yogendran Duckson Puslas was sent to Colombo on Wednesday,March,2 UL flight No104 from Male.
The young star player who played for the Male-based Valencia Footbal Team is proved to have committed suicide for personal reasons.
Sri Lankan High Commissioner A M J Sadiq told Colombo Times om Wednesday : “ I visited the mortuary in Male at 4 p.m. today, accompanied by the Counsellor of our Mission, Mr D. Amanulla to pay my last respects to the Sri Lankan national football player, the late Duckson Puslas Yogendran, before the despatch of the body tonight to Colombo.” A High Commission official said that from the time of the death of this great sportsman, the mission had been taking every step to expedite the investigations and send the remains to the family of the deceased as early as possible.
Puslas who is survived by his wife and two-year old son, was a Sri Lankan professional footballer who played as a defender for TC Sports Club and Sri Lanka national team. He was recognised as one of the stalwarts of Sri Lankan defence line-up.
The 31-year old Duckson was found dead in his private apartment in Male, where he was residing, while being contracted by his club Valancia to compete in the Dhivehi Premier League Tournamnet. Th
The deceased hailed from Mannar and was a sports-loving personality. He opted to dribble the football at a very young age and was a pillar of strength in any team he represented manning the last line of defense. He donned the New Young, Wennapuwa jersey during his club stint in many tournaments while also representing the national side for quite some tim.
It has been a great loss for his family and to the country. The Football Sri Lanka officials have visited his family and made some financial contribution.
