
BANGALORE : The leading T20 bowler and all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga’s bid was intense and was temporarily halted due to the Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsing while Hasaranga’s bid was on.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had bid INR 10.75 Crores when the medical emergency happened. The base price for Hasaranga was INR 1 crore. There are 23 Sri Lankan players featured in the IPL auction list including Hasaranga.
Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) made the first bid for Hasaranga. Punjab Kings (PBKS) and SRH were tussling for Hasaranga while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also joined in making the bidding intense. RCB escalated the bid to 8.25 crores while PBKS did not let go and taking the bid over 10 crore. RCB seemed desperate and locked horns with PBKS.
Unfortunately, during Hasaranga’s bidding process, where RCB had bid 10.75 crore, the Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed due to low blood pressure and medical team was called upon to treat him. Hence the bid was halted at 10.75 crore temporarily and will commence at IST 3.30 pm.
In this segment of bidding, Suresh Raina, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hassan and David miller were unsold.
In other notable bids, West Indian Dwayne Bravo and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran was picked up by CSK for INR 4.4 crore. Another West Indian Jason Holder was sold to the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for 8.75 crore.
After a bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH), RCB outbid SRH to pick Harshal Patel for 10.75 crore. The IPL auction is still underway in Bangalore. (RZ)
