
MUSCAT: The second match Legends League Cricket 2022 between Asian Lions and World Giants was held at Al Amerat Cricket Grounds (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amerat Friday,Jan 21.
Asian Lions beat the Giants by 6 wickets chasing 206 runs.
Former West Indies captain, Darren Sammy led the World Giants. Kevin O Brien hit a scintillating 95 runs out of just 46 balls.His innings included 7 sixers and 7 boundaries. World Giants scored 205 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nuwan Kulasekara bowled best for Asian Lions picking up 2 wickets for 17 runs (4 overs) while Mohamed Hafeez picked up 2 wickets for 32 runs (3 overs).

Chasing the mammoth total of 205 runs, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga put together a magnificent partnership of 88 runs. Dilshan reached his half century in just 30 balls however got out LBW to Morkel for 52 runs. Upul Tharanga continued his form from the first match and went on to hit 63 runs off 43 balls before being run out by Imran Thahir. Lions reached 150 for 2 wickets in the 15th over, needing 57 runs in the last 5 overs. Two quick wickets of Tharanga and Hafeez (27 runs) had the Lions tottering at 183 runs for 4 wickets with only 2 overs left. Mone Morkel bowled a fantastic spell for 2 wickets for 38 runs (4 overs).
Asian Lions Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq scored a quickfire 19 runs to hit the winning runs and secure a win for the lions by 6 wickets (209/4 from 19.2 overs). Former Sri Lanka batsman Upul Tharanga was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his match winning knock of 63 runs.
