NEW DELHI : Sri Lankan singer Yohani’s ‘Manike Mage Hithe’ has become a viral hit among people all over the country. The catchy tune has bewitched all and sundry, including Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Tiger Shroff and many more. After several versions of the song in different languages, a Bengali version of the song by a father-daughter duo from Medinipur has gone viral.
The duo twisted the viral song and titled it ‘Ma Mati Manush Hithe’ to dedicate it to All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Chairperson Mamata Banerjee. The music video was shared on Facebook by a group named Banglar Gorbo Mamata. The recording is a video montage of various appearances made by Mamata Banerjee at different venues.
Speaking to India Today, Rajesh Chakraborty, the creator of the song, stated that he created the track to give a tribute to Mamata Banerjee.
“I am not a TMC leader, neither am I a member of TMC. I am just a fan of Mamata Banerjee’s work and how she has developed the state,” said Rajesh Chakraborty. Rajesh Chakraborty composed the song on the lines of the viral hit, Manike Mage Hithe. Hithe in Bengali means to support or vouch for.
“The song talks about Mamata Banerjee’s struggles, her aspiration to counter BJP in the Centre and various welfare schemes by her government. This has also become an instant hit. It has been sung by my daughter and niece”, Chakraborty told India Today.
The song Manike Mage Hithe was originally composed by Satheeshan Rathnayaka in 2020. It recently went viral after Yohani Diloka De Silva’s version in May.(India Today)
