The government is stubborn and does not want to impose lockdown and on the other hand its own alliance parties are insisting for a lockdown. The Mahanayakes of the Malwatte and the Asgiriya Chapters too have requested the President and the prime minister to consider a lockdown for a period of one week because of the Covid situation.
Local councils and trade unions are also requesting the people to follow a voluntary lockdown and also threatening to suspend it’s work. Some health officials are behaving like jokers by listening to the military leadership inadhering to health guidelines.
Some opposition political groups, which has lost hopes in the government, have urged the public to go for a voluntary lockdown, while some other opposition groups are telling the public that lockdown is dangerous to the nation’s stability.
Some health experts have already written to the government to impose a lockdown but government is stating if health experts are requesting for a lockdown we are ready to do it.
Politicians and the government are snowballing the people from one end to the other. Its time that proper constructive action is taken for the betterment of the people who are daily losing their loved ones and also living in great mental pain and fear about the disease and deaths.
