COLOMBO : Former minister and present Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen told Parliament on Wednesday, August 4 that he has been detained by the Criminal Investigations Department for more than 100 days in room and he was allowed to go out only to answer call of nature.
When he was making the statement, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa were present at the parliament and they were seen reacting to the complaint made by the former minister.
The Speaker gave Bathiudeen only a minute for Bathiudeen’s speech.
MP Bathiudeen further said inquiries had been conducted only on five days, while he has been detained without charges by the CID for the remaining 97 days.
He directed his statement at President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who were present in Parliament at the time of his statement.
Bathiudeen has been detained by the CID in connection with the investigations conducted on the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
